Sanjay Kulkarni, an artist and painter, born and brought up in Ratnagiri (a district of Maharashtra). Ratnagiri, a land as beautiful as its people, simple, soft spoken, easy going and hospitable. In 1995, Sanjay Kulkarni moved to Pune, to pursue his studies in Applied Arts. And in 2000, he successfully graduated from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya Pune. Sanjay Kulkarni began his early days of career as a creative director to Advertising Agencies. He was simultaneously working on some of the impressive projects related to Art Direction for Films and Television Serials. Sanjay Kulkarni has won some prestigious awards like CEAD (Creative Excellence in Advertising and Design). An addition in a prestigious School for Art, Canterbury Christ Church University Collage in United Kingdom is yet another feather in his cap. This was also the time when he started concentrating on Paintings, turning it into a passion soon after. The first recognition came when he participated in an exhibition held by NAG Foundation with reputed contemporary National Artists. “I am a person who perceives the world around me with vibrancy” says sanjay. His work is known for its vibrancy of color and form, often expressed on a large scale. His style is characterized by contemporary modernist figures, a unique graphic approach, a connection to the philosophical side of life, rendered mysteriously by bright colors and rich textures. Sanjay kulkarni’s paintings do show a deep impact of rigorous thinking of the artist, seen prominently in his themes like Krishna, Clown, Mother and child, And Buddha. The themes Reflect Positive energy and approach to life. His paintings have a story to narrate to a viewer. As he says “I enjoy challenging myself and hence, my viewer”. Sanjay’s work definitely causes people to stop, think, and reassess their own perceptions of life. Sanjay Kulkarni continues to live and work in Pune.
