Debraj Goswami

Debraj Goswami was born in 1973 in Serampore, West Bengal, Goswami studied for his BFA in Graphics at the Rabindra Bharati University in West Bengal and later moved to Baroda where he obtained his MFA in the same from the Faculty of Fine Arts at MS University. Whilst at the MS University, he was awarded the C.R. Dasgupta Memorial Gold Medal for obtaining the highest marks in his finals. When he began to paint while he was still in Kolkata, he used oils.Goswami now prefers to work with acrylic on paper, because he believes it gives an artist the advantages of both oils and watercolors, allowing him to use the media as he wishes. He works with charcoal sometimes as well. His pieces are mostly figurative and are created with thin, fine lines.. From the time he graduated in 1999, Debraj Goswami has participated in group shows in, India . In 2006, he held his first solo show, titled ‘Don’t / Please Take It Otherwise,’ at Mumbai. The artist lives and works in Baroda.
